ATTORNEY PROFILE:  JODY WEIS

Ms. Weis began her legal career in the 22nd Judicial Circuit, as an intern at the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office. Ms. Weis has served in both the private and public sectors of the legal community. During her tenure at the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office, Ms. Weis served as a supervising attorney in the Criminal Division and tried hundreds of bench and jury trials to verdict. Ms. Weis was appointed to the Kane County Child Advocacy Center, where her true passion for family law began. Prosecuting cases where children were the victims of abuse put Ms. Weis on a career path that has consistently kept her advocating for children and their parents. Ms. Weis was also employed as an Assistant State’s Attorney in the LaSalle County State’s Attorney’s Office and an Associate Attorney in two leading private firms before she opened her own practice in Oswego, Illinois in 2009.

Ms. Weis practices almost exclusively in the area of family law. Some of the specific issues that are dealt with daily include: Divorce; Paternity; Parental Responsibilities (formerly Child Custody); Visitation Rights; Parenting Time; Child Support; Maintenance and Guardian ad Litem (GAL) work. Ms. Weis has received and maintained the special training necessary to serve as a Court appointed Guardian ad Litem, and frequently reports directly to the Honorable Judges of the 23rd Circuit Court in her capacity as the Guardian ad Litem in child custody cases.

Ms. Weis received her Bachelor’s Degree from Loyola University of Chicago.
Ms. Weis received her Juris Doctorate from Northern Illinois University College of Law.
